Seasons …

imageAt times our seasons are just all mixed up … I mean in nature and in life. Like now our weather is so crazy!  – days of warmth and sunshine then, bitter cold, warmth again, then snow and ice, sunny days then the cold!! These sweet yellow flowers are fighting to keep their heads up! Poor, beautiful little ones.

By the same token, our life can be going along so smoothly … prayers being answered in positive ways and exciting things happening for ourselves and to those we love. And then in our private world – the world many are not privy to – sadness happens, grief over something so tragic and heartbreaking and the season of Joy becomes a season of Tears.

Moments like these I just love the old King James for certain verses …

Ecclesiastes 3: 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

And  sometimes the old sweet hymns say it best

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!  by, William Walford.

So in the midst of your own busyness and happiness today please keep in mind you may only be seeing the surface, public emotions of some of the people around you. You never know who could use a kind word or a prayer lifted on their behalf.

Be kind to others, and pray without ceasing.

I love these verses from Romans chapter 8

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
