The Truth Is

The Truth Is

I am not a very ‘political’ person. I don’t like the anger, the heat, the controversy, the ‘taking sides’, the name-calling and back-stabbing. It even puts friends against friends and brothers against brothers. Makes me sad.

However, that doesn’t mean I am not passionate about what I believe in – like: the protection of our heritage, our constitution, our religious freedom, our rights to self-educate our kids, the ability to rise up and make something of yourself if you’re willing to work hard and that I sure as shooting don’t want to become a Socialist nation – here are some poignant sites that can open your eyes to socialism and its downfalls – Mr. Peterffy and What’s Wrong With Socialism – there’s a whole slew of interviews with people who should know how it was and don’t want us to repeat it.

But most importantly to me is the protection and support of those who cannot look out for themselves. I believe the most unprotected segment of our society is our unborn children. Over 53 million lives have been taken since 1973 – a year that should be a happy milestone for me – the year I graduated from high school but instead it is a milestone of killing the innocent.  There’s a good number of internet sites where you can find these heart-rending facts but here’s just one for now. The American Dream (or The American Nightmare).

A lot of lies being thrown about during this time. What one side claims is a lie the others claim as truth or maybe are simply denying the facts or worse yet, without researching the true facts end up promoting what they perceive as being truth as something for the good of our nation. There are absolutely things going on that will destroy our country if we let them continue. It’s just sad.

A major LIE being promoted is this – the conservatives feel more for, think more of, want protection for the unborn but don’t give a ‘hoot’ for the living. They say ‘we’ don’t care what is happening to the poor, the elderly, those that are struggling … they say we don’t care for the living. I am not here to say we have it down to a perfect ministry or work but I am here to share some very important truths. On the other hand, there are  those who seem to think that in promoting ‘abortion’ and so-called ‘women’s rights’ they are doing the world a service – and that is simply a lie.

There’s so many different ways to prove that the very greatest acknowledgments women were ever given is through and in Scripture. By far the greatest gift of ‘rights’ is when we accept freedom in Christ. Our self-worth and our opportunities to be all that we can be are handed to us by God himself. And furthermore, if we mess up, are attacked, are given the challenge of an ‘unwanted’ or difficult pregnancy we can come to Him and the proper, life-building solutions can be found without sacrificing the innocent.  Another excellent site that can answer so many questions and explain good, healthy alternatives is Abortion Facts.

Okay, now to address some very, very important TRUTHS.

Agape of North Carolina is one example of Agape all across the United States – offering homes via fostering and adoption to children who need it. There are branches in other States and each one has the same goal … looking out for innocent lives of children and finding solutions for parents – like Nashville’s branch where our daughter and son-in-law are working through.  Pregnancy crisis centers are all over the country like here and here is another – Arms of Hope  and here’s a small list of other sites – Ministries for children in need and here’s some direct links.

Then, there’s the homeless – Oh My! I have heard, firsthand of so many great stories of special people reaching out and lives being forever changed and filled with hope – of course, there’s never enough but who are you to complain if you’re not doing your part to help? There’s Brooks House,  and Midway, and then, also Gateway church who offers a H.O.M.E.  and one of my very, very favorites – the Compassion Center – who is one of the finest examples ever of serving and changing lives … you can talk compassion or you can act it out. There’s so many more of these locations in city after city.

Then there’s Unemployment … and the choice to hand someone a fish (our government) or teach them to fish (numerous private ministries) like these: Greenhouse Ministries, and also, the above mentioned Compassion with an Educational Program – “We have 10 computers available with a tutorial program to help provide educational needs necessary to obtain a G.E.D. Also job skill classes are available.” and another one of many is Hope Works just take a look at a few of their videos and see if a difference isn’t being made.

The Elderly are often a forgotten segment of society too and there are some programs that have them in mind … like these that reach out to seniors in Texas and Florida, and also, another is Lakeview in New Mexico.

There’s so many other programs throughout all churches … for Marriage, Family, Divorce Recovery, Finances, Education … and I could go on and on! What a difference is being made by those who are moved to action – and their common denominator: Christ and his respect for all people.

Because of the recent storm devastation on all our hearts I will now turn to Disaster Relief –

What they do in Disaster Relief at HOME and ABROAD  is truly amazing! Right now they are helping with Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath and they were some of the first responders.

But there’s others like

Healing Hands – again, here and abroad

Whites Ferry Road and their relief efforts.

And Mayfair in Alabama

And well, here is a small list of those who help when the need is there.

International Relief Organizations:

Christian Relief Fund
Healing Hands International
Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort
Health Talents International
WFR Relief Ministries
Orphan’s Lifeline of Hope Intl

Like I said, these programs I listed are just some of many and since I am a part of the church of Christ then I listed a few ways we work BUT in the ‘name of Christ’ are a gazillion other ministries all over our country … I mean, all over, doing all kinds of wondrous, make-a-difference things  – like Hospitals, and private Schools, and Universities, Orphanages, and Youth Centers and all kinds of Re-Hab programs and it is all because they have Jesus Christ our Lord as their driving force.

Jesus Christ – His principles, His values, His abundant love for all, HIS WAY … that is the only answer to the distress we see in America.

Come on, people, first, and foremost, have respect for the value of a human life – protect the most innocent of all – the unborn child, then all else will surely fall into place.

Psalm 139:13-14
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

Psalm 51:6
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

Isaiah 44:24
[ Jerusalem to Be Inhabited ] “This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,

Isaiah 49:1
[ The Servant of the LORD ] Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the LORD called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.

Joshua 24:15
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
