Beautiful Tuesday in April

It’s a beautiful Tuesday in April and I am so thankful to be home in our house in Santa Rosa. Lowell and I had a great 4 days with Bob and Leah, and Nathaniel from SC – we were accompanying them as they were visiting churches their congregation support here in Western Honduras. Jacob stayed behind and was able to go to the Campamento with our Santa Rosa church family. But, back to Lowell and me. It was fun, encouraging, enlightening and inspiring being able to translate for the various preachers, their families, and some of the members so the three ‘gringos’ could understand and share hearts back and forth. It was also exhausting. So, today, I am tired.

Lowell was the ‘vocal’ one of the two of us, doing almost all the translating and I usually sat by his side, listening intently to catch anything he might miss or understand differently, then we’d fix it. But, he did great. We did great as a team. I always have been able to understand or catch on quicker than he and then he can get it said in a more correct form. I loved being able to ask questions and share ‘heart stuff’ with the wives/moms we were with and then communicate it with Leah. She asked some good questions, and made some great friends and also, gave a lot of encouragement and love to each of these ladies.

These folks we visited have known Bob for years – to know him, is to laugh! He has such fantastic rapport with everyone despite the language barrier. ALL were so grateful to finally meet “Hermana Leah” – and it was love at first sight. Last but not least, it was such a treat to be around Nathaniel – a wonderful man with a heart for the children – he made best friends wherever we went – even at restaurants he had children laughing and playing with him.

Sweet times that are a part of all that makes up our work here in Honduras. I love it. My heart is filled to brimming with the visions and goals of these lives we a part of this week-end. I get home though and realize how much I have to do and now hardly have the energy to face it. So, I spend some time on facebook, catch up with our kiddos, chat a little with Janna and then see a verse that Lisa puts up … she is from our sponsoring congregation. I know it sounds familiar but have to look it up. I read it and am so encouraged. I know God has once again provided what I needed at just the right time. His Word. His encouragement, given through the hand of someone dear. Isn’t that the way it works? We never, ever know who will be touched by the good we share.

So, keep it up sisters and brothers – your lives make a difference.

1 Chronicles 28:20 David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.
